Tool 01 · IV Checker

Pokémon IV Calculator

Type in what the summary screen shows - the scanner runs every IV 0–31 through the exact Gen 3–9 stat formula and reports which values fit. Blank fields stay open; judge tiers and the characteristic finish the job.

Pins which stat is highest and its IV's last digit (mod 5). In Gen 4–5 English games the HP phrases were mistranslated - this tool uses the corrected mapping.

How to check IVs in game

Find the numbers

The summary/status screen shows level and six stats. The nature is on the status page ("Adamant", "Serious"…). The characteristic is the flavor line like "Likes to run."

Mind the EVs

Freshly caught, hatched and raid Pokémon have 0 EVs - leave the box unchecked. Battled or vitamin-fed Pokémon have EVs; enter them or the solve skews.

Scan, then narrow

Low level = wide ranges. Re-check the same Pokémon after leveling (rare candies preserve EVs), or add judge phrases from the box-marking PC judge.

Worked examples

CaseInputsScan result
Exact at Lv 50 Garchomp · Lv 50 · Serious · 0 EV
stats 183 / 150 / 115 / 100 / 105 / 122
All six IVs 31 - exact match
Ambiguity at Lv 10 Base-50 HP stat · Lv 10 · 0 EV · HP 30 IV 0–9 (all ten produce stat 30)
Judge tier only Attack judge: “Very Good” IV 26–29 with no stats entered

How the solve works

Every stat in Gen 3–9 is computed as:

HP    = floor((2·Base + IV + floor(EV/4)) · Level/100) + Level + 10
Other = floor((floor((2·Base + IV + floor(EV/4)) · Level/100) + 5) · N)
N = 1.1 if the nature boosts the stat, 0.9 if it hinders, else 1

To solve, IVXray substitutes each IV 0–31 into the formula and keeps every value that reproduces your observed stat - which is why rounding at low levels yields ranges. The characteristic applies two hard constraints: its stat's IV ends in a known digit (mod 5) and is tied for the highest IV across all six stats. Limitations: Gen 1–2 (DVs) are out of scope; hyper-trained stats read wrong because the games boost their effective value without changing the IV; Shedinja's HP is always 1. Questions

IV Calculator FAQ

What level gives exact IVs?
Level 100 with 0 EVs always pins every IV exactly. Level 50 (the standard battle/raid level) is exact or off by at most one point; below level 20 rounding starts hiding several IVs per stat, which is why the calculator shows ranges.
A stat says "no match" - what went wrong?
Almost always one of: the level is wrong, the nature in the calculator isn't the Pokémon's actual nature, the Pokémon has EVs you didn't enter (enable "This Pokémon has EV training"), or a typo. The possible range printed under each field tells you what the stat could legally be.
Do EVs affect IV checking?
Yes - EVs add to the stat before IVs can be solved, so an EV-trained stat will solve to the wrong IV if you leave EVs at 0. Freshly caught, hatched or raid-caught Pokémon have 0 EVs; anything that has battled or been fed vitamins has some. Track them or use EV-reset berries.
Which nature should I select?
The nature printed on your Pokémon's status page - not the nature you wish it had. A ±10% nature shifts two stats, so picking the wrong one mis-solves those stats.
Does Hyper Training affect the scan?
No. Hyper Training boosts the effective stat for battle, but the true IV underneath is unchanged - so a hyper-trained stat reads as 31 in battle while its real IV is different. Treat hyper-trained stats as unreadable here.
Why does Shedinja say HP "n/a"?
Shedinja's HP is hard-coded to 1 in the games regardless of IVs, so its HP stat carries zero IV information. The other five stats still solve normally.
